Koi Pond #1

 

 

This 2,500-gallon Koi pond was originally completed in September 2004. Today this pond is home to a small selection of Koi ranging in size from 16” – 30”. The water in this pond is kept clean and healthy by a 500-gallon DIY filter setup, making a total water volume of 3,000 gallons. Additional aeration is provided by three air stones. Detailed Pond Specs

Completed: September 2004
Liner: Firestone 45mil EPDM pond liner
Pump(s): (1) 4,000GPH submersible pump
Filtration: DIY pond filter complete with vortex settling chamber, Laguna PowerClear 40-Watt UV clarifer.  Vortex is drained on a bi-monthly basis or as needed.  10% water changes are done on a weekly basis    
Plumbing: 1.5" PVC, 1" flex tubing
Volume: 3,000 gallons (includes filter)
Aeration: (3) submersible air stones powered by a Dolphin AV-150 pond aerator, and (3) DIY venturi returns 
Special Features: Faux rock waterfall, bell fountain, submersible lighting, DIY arched footbridge, landscape lighting, floating frog spitters, border stones
Fish Load: 15 - 20 Koi ranging in size between 16" and 28"
